So you just start drawing these freehand from scratch with ballpoint? No pencil first?

The sketches, yes. The ones that I'm going to want clean lines on? No. I use a .5 blue lead pencil and Pigma pens for those. I started doing that a few years back to try and discipline myself to visualize better and control the lines I made. Also to help speed the process up. It's worked for the most part.

LOL! It took lots and lots of practice. And these are the ones that came out acceptably. I have piles of sketch books with stuff that, well, didn't make it.
